Air Pollution Will Increase As Industries Cluster Around Terminal Energy Sources.

Photograph

Some data collected from existing operations suggest the fuel is clean, but the industry is not. Indeed, industrial clusters historically occur around LNG terminals where gas is cheapest. Where this happens, air and water pollution increases dramatically. A 900 MW cogeneration plant can, by some estimates, be expected to increase air pollution by 4.9 tons daily. Industrial development can reach the levels of Lake Charles, Louisiana, known as "Cancer Alley"
